The Institute for Research in Economic and Fiscal Issues (IREF) is an independent European think tank based in Paris dedicated to advancing economic freedom through rigorous policy analysis. Founded in 2002, IREF promotes sound fiscal and monetary policy, competitive taxation, and limited government as the foundations of prosperity.
Its research focuses on taxation, public spending, regulation, monetary policy and key social policies, with a particular emphasis on the role of competition and decentralisation in a globalised economy. Bringing together insights from economics, law, and political economy, IREF provides rigorous analysis and clear policy proposals aimed at fostering a freer and more prosperous Europe.
Through its publications, commentary, and public engagement, IREF contributes to ongoing debates on economic policy and institutional reform across Europe.
